Funds for education of 19 students of Rajaji Nagar

The State government has taken steps for the continued education of 19 Plus One students from Rajaji Nagar who had to discontinue their studies, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said. An amount of Rs.31,000 has been sanctioned for securing their admission in the National Open School. He was speaking after distributing educational kits to them on Friday.

The students were selected following a survey conducted in the area by the students of Cotton Hill Government Girls Higher Secondary School. Another study was conducted by World Vision, a voluntary organisation. Besides classes in the open school, the selected students will also be provided a special course at the cooperative college in Rajaji Nagar.

The Minister said that 50 students from Rajaji Nagar, Karimadam, and Poundkulam colonies studying in classes five to seven would be selected for a course to improve their academic level.
