E.K. Bharat Bhushan to retire as Chief Secretary on January 31

The Cabinet on Wednesday expressed its satisfaction and appreciation of the services of E.K. Bharat Bhushan, who is retiring as Chief Secretary on January 31. Jiji Thomson, who is now Additional Chief Secretary in the General Administration Department, is to replace him. Mr. Thomson, who was on Central deputation as Director General of the Sports Authority of India, had returned to the State as wanted by the State government. The Cabinet decided to appoint Saju George, who is now Controller of the Public Service Commission, as the Secretary to the commission. Secretary (Expenditure) Rajesh Kumar Sinha was given additional charge of the Secretary (Planning).

Director of the KSUDP U.V. Jose and Deputy Secretary (Planning) R. Girija, who were conferred IAS recently, will continue in their present posts.

Ms. Girija will get additional charge of the Central Plan Monitoring Unit, an official release said.
