All eyes will be on Government Lower Primary School, Nedumangad, on Friday. The school that will host the State-level Pravesanotsavam has been given a gift of refurbished classrooms by the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
Child-friendly and environment-friendly furniture and study equipment will welcome tiny tots on Friday.
The school, which has 120 students on its rolls, will see 70 more students take admission this year. By 8.30 a.m. on Friday, students, parents, and teachers will start their gathering on the school premises.

Minister to teach
Minister for Education C. Ravindranath will be among those welcoming the students with gifts. The Minister will accompany the students to class. The first class for the Class 1 students will be by the Minister. The Minister and the students will then head for the main venue of the Pravesanotsavam. Special seats will be arranged for the new students there.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Pravesanotsavam in the presence of Mr. Ravindranath, General Education Secretary A. Shajahan, and Deputy Speaker V. Sasi. A. Sampath, MP, will release an awareness handbook — Nanma Pookunnu Naalekku — for parents. C. Divakaran, MLA, who is also the chairperson of the welcome committee, will give away study equipment for students.

Meanwhile, at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Pattom, the authorities claimed that over 2,250 students had taken admission to Classes 5 and 8.
If the admission to other classes are taken into account, the total number of new admissions will cross 2,500, school Principal Fr. C.C. John and Headmaster Aby Abraham said. There was a rush of applicants with one more day left to go for school reopening.
