The body of a man, Krishna Pillai, 45, of Poovar, who went missing in the sea near the Pozhikkara estuary at Poovar late on Sunday, was found on Monday.
According to the police, Pillai had stepped into the sea for a bath around 6 p.m. on Sunday after spending some time near the estuary along with his friends. He was reportedly swept off by strong undercurrents. A search operation by the police, Fire and Rescue Service personnel and local people on Sunday was in vain, with the body finally being found in the morning on Monday.
Pillai is survived by his wife Prasannakumari and three children. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy on Monday.
