Drainage slabs to be replaced

May 25, 2014 12:55 pm | Updated 12:55 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The slabs of the drains leading to the Amayizhanjan Thodu in Thampanoor will be replaced to ease the flow of waste water and reduce the flooding in the area, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said. The Kerala State Urban Development Project (KSUDP) will make available funds for this purpose. Mr. Sivakumar was speaking at a meeting with officials from the departments concerned to discuss the issue on Saturday.

Instead of the seven gratings currently placed inside the drain from Overbridge to Manjalikkulam, 21 gratings will be provided.

The drains being built by the Kerala Road Fund Board will be completed as per schedule. In the meeting, the Railway officials agreed to give permission for KSUDP to construct drains in land owned by the Railways.
