The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has filed a complaint with the Election Commission seeking action against an employee with the Social Justice Department for openly campaigning for United Democratic Front candidate K.S. Sabarinadhan.
The LDF had moved the Commission against the employee after she appeared on a television channel seeking votes for Mr. Sabarinadhan. By openly campaigning for a candidate, she had violated the provisions of the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules, 1959, and the Kerala Service Rules. The commission should initiate proceedings against her for using her official position to canvass votes for a particular candidate, the complaint said.
