Chennithala: CPI(M) promoting violence

May 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday said that the Nadapuram bomb seizure and the attack on RMP leader K.K. Rema have once again exposed the Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s cult of political violence.

He said the seizure of high voltage steel bombs from a ‘party village’ near Nadapuram showed that the CPI(M)’s main motive was to use violence on polling day.

Party leaders, during electioneering, had encouraged the cadre in this regard, he alleged.

The attack against Ms. Rema, wife of slain RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan, was premeditated as the CPI(M) was afraid of her.

No CPI(M) leader of note had condemned the attack on her. The two incidents clearly showed that the CPI(M) proposed to continue its politics of violence with impunity.

‘Law and order stable’

Mr. Chennithala urged the people to vote for the continuation of the UDF rule. He said law and order was by and large stable in the last five years, with hardly any communal clash or firing being reported.

If the LDF came to power, the culture of political violence would return. People should be conscious about the divisive politics of the BJP, which attempted communal polarisation, and the violent politics of the CPI (M), the Home Minister said.

The BJP was making moves to defeat the UDF by building bridges with the CPI(M).

Mr. Chennithala also cautioned the electorate about the possibilities of the CPI(M) misusing the Election Commission’s voter slip to cast bogus votes.

The attack against RMP leader Rema was premeditated as the CPI(M) is afraid of her.

Ramesh Chennithala,

Home Minister
