Digital means will be adopted to check speeding and rash and negligent driving as these were found to be the main reasons for the increasing number of road accidents, Manoj Abraham, Inspector General of Police, Traffic and Road Safety, said.

More speed check cameras on all major roads under the public-private participation mode, hand-held speed radars and alcometers in all police stations, payment of fines through banks across the State by associating with State Bank of India, enforcement of helmet rule, and making headgear mandatory for pillion rider are the areas identified for enforcement of rules.

A portal exclusively for traffic, traffic e-mail, all-Kerala traffic helpline number, and WhatsApp for forwarding traffic complaints, pictures and videos form part of the virtual methods to be adopted.
