The Kerala State Police cyber cell has booked the Principal of a city school on the charge of disseminating defamatory e-mails against a woman teacher of the same school. Director General of Police K.S. Balasubramanian had ordered the State Police High Tech Enquiry Cell to investigate the teacher’s complaint.
The unit, headed by S. Vinay Kumaran Nair, found that the defamatory and vulgar message, which portrayed the 42-year-old woman in bad light, was disseminated to other staff members of the school from a newly created e-mail address.
Investigators found that the school’s dedicated broadband internet connection had been used to create the mail. It had been created and used at timings when none other than the Principal, who belongs to an order of priests, had access to it.

The school management has transferred the priest to a charitable institution run by the order in Tamil Nadu. The police said they had recovered the priest’s laptop computer. The police said it would produce the laptop as evidence in court. Efforts were under way to secure the custody of the priest for further questioning.
