The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India)’s fixtures and tour committee on Wednesday rescheduled the T20 international match that was allotted to Thiruvananthapuram.

The Greenfield stadium was supposed to host the T20 international match between India and Sri Lanka on December 20. However, the BCCI informed the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) that the venues of the T20 internationals during the New Zealand’s tour of India were changed and Thiruvananthapuram has been allotted the second T20 match of the New Zealand tour instead of the Sri Lankan match. As per the new schedule, India will play New Zealand at the Greenfield stadium on November 7.

The Puri Beach Festival in Odisha in November clashed with the dates of the T20 International, which was supposed to be held at Cuttack, thus forcing the BCCI to look for alternative venue.

“The BCCI informed us that they have allotted the New Zealand match to us. It does not make any difference to us. We are ready to host any match. We had met all criteria and the venue has been approved by BCCI two months. But we have to fine-tune a few things before the ICC inspection. It is just a formality,” said KCA secretary Jayesh George.

Thiruvananthapuram will be hosting an international match after a gap of 29 years. The last match, which was played in Thiruvananthapuram, was between India and West Indies in 1988.
