Cabinet clears appointment of 16 District Judges

Names to be recommended to Governor

The Cabinet has decided to recommend the appointment of 12 Chief Judicial Magistrates and four Sub-Judges as District Judges from a panel furnished by the High Court.

Briefing presspersons about the decisions of a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the decision had been made to recommend the names to the Governor for appointment as District Judges in the Kerala State Higher Judicial Service.

The Cabinet recommendation would not affect the rights of the District Judges who have been directly appointed from the Bar Council, he said.

Names

The following are the Chief Judicial Magistrates who have been cleared for appointment as District Judges: Chief Judicial Magistrates Murali Gopal Pandala (Thodupuzha), Johnny Sebastian (Kozhikode), K.E. Salihu (Palakkad), V. Vincent Charlie (Thiruvananthapuram), S. Jayakumar John (Manjeri), P. Maya Devi (Kollam), K.G. Sanal Kumar (Alappuzha), Nixon M. Joseph (Thrissur), V.S. Bindu Kumari (Kottayam), M. Manoj (Pathanamthitta), M.V. Rajkumar (Thalassery), and K.S. Ambika (Ernakulam).

Sub-Judges F. Ashida (Cherthala), R. Vinayaka Rao (Kannur), P.N. Vinod (Attingal) and A.V. Mridula who is currently on deputation as Thalassery District Legal Service Authority Secretary have been appointed as District Judges.

The following are those who have been appointed directly as District Judges earlier: K.K. Balakrishnan, S. Nazeera, K. Sunil Kumar, Mini S. Das, E. Ayoob Khan, G. Gopakumar, K.N. Sujith and Sanu S. Panicker.
