Builder denies neighbour’s charge

October 27, 2017 12:39 am | Updated 12:39 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM

The builder mentioned in the report ‘A House waiting to cave in’ ( The Hindu , Oct 23, 2017) has said that the construction activity at their project site in the Karamana – Melarannoor Road has not in any way impacted Ms. Malini’s house as it is located more than 50 metres away from the site. The plot adjacent to her house was taken on lease earlier this year for the storage of material, the builder said.

According to the builder, the excavation activities on this plot, which is alleged to have damaged Ms. Malini’s house, were carried out by the original owners of the plot in 2012.

The builder purchased the plot only in 2015 and had got the permission from Corporation to start work only in July 2016.

There are other small and medium old houses very close to the construction site which have not developed any crack or damage till date.

The builder said there is no point in the builder providing lateral support for Ms. Malini’s plot as the adjacent plot taken on lease is not being used for any construction activity but only for stacking of construction material.
