Students of the final B.Tech. batch under the Kerala University staged an agitation at the premises of the varsity headquarters on Friday in protest against the inordinate delay in declaration of examination results.
Though the examinations had been conducted many months ago, the university was yet to ensure the declaration of all results of examinations pertaining to the 2013-17 batch under the 2013 scheme.
While the results of the seventh and eighth semesters were published a few weeks ago, those of the fifth and sixth semesters remain undeclared. Besides, the results of supplementary examinations of the third and fourth semesters have also not been announced.

Among those affected were the students of 43 affiliated colleges, including four government colleges, viz., College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET); Government Engineering College, Barton Hill; TKM College of Engineering; and Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering.
The ‘unprecedented’ delay in declaring the results have created hardships for many students, who aspired to pursue higher studies or secure placement.
V. Sidharthan, a student of the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, (CET) said his ambition of applying in the Indian Defence forces through the Combined Defence Services (CDS) suffered a blow due to his inability to submit his fifth semester mark-list.

“Never has the publication of B.Tech. results been as late. Many final year students faced the threat of losing their placements owing to the late publication of results. There were also some who were denied the opportunity to appear for campus recruitment drives owing to delay in announcing the results of the supplementary examinations of semesters 5 and 6,” he said.
Around 500 B.Tech. students of the CET took part in the demonstration that was organised by the Students’ Federation of India.
Varsity officials assured them that the pending results would be declared within the next few weeks.
