Union Ministers from the State should ensure that the State gets its share of power from the Kudankulam nuclear plant, expected to be commissioned in December, former Electricity Minister A.K. Balan said on Sunday.
In a release here, Mr. Balan said the statement of Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs V. Narayanaswamy that the entire power generated at Kudankulam would be given to Tamil Nadu was part of a larger conspiracy.
Under the Gadgil formula, Kerala and other Southern States were eligible for a share of the power produced at the plant.

Kerala was eligible for 133 MW of power from the plant. In other words, the State would get over 1,000 million units of power every year, he said.
The Tamil Nadu government had supported the first phase of agitation against the nuclear power plant. However, the Tamil Nadu government used its support to the agitation as a bargaining point to get concessions.
There were reports that the Prime Minister had agreed to the terms set by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha.
