: Treatment centres offering free consultation and medication in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) are proving a huge hit at the AROGYA Expo 2015 in the city.
Visitors to the Poojapura ground formed long queues before the seven clinics — including two each for Ayurveda and Homoeopathy — with nearly a thousand patients meeting the doctors here in just the first three days of the exhibition.
The expo organisers said the AYUSH Ministry, through these free clinics, aims to spread the word about the advantages of these ancient treatment systems that are free of side-effects.

“While Ayurveda is popular, people are still not so aware about Siddha and Unani,” said research officer in-charge of Ayurveda Research Institute for Mother and Child Healthcare and also clinic in-charge S. Indira Kumari.
The various clinics received patients suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, anaemia, rheumatism and arthritis, back pain, asthma and skin diseases.
K.B. Ansari, assistant director of the Delhi-based Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, noted that people with skin disease and joint pain were frequenting the clinic. “We have seen more than 80 patients,” he said.

Siddha, which uses marma therapy, is also now proving popular with patients who suffer from skin disease, joint pain and allergies, said G.S. Lekha of Chennai’s Central Council for Research in Siddha.
The AROGYA Expo 2015, a fair in complementary and alternative health care organised by World Ayurveda Foundation in association with the Ministry of AYUSH and Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, offers the free clinics.
