Awards for Jayachandran, Bhavana

Music director M. Jayachandran and Carnatic vocalist Bhavana Radhakrishnan have been selected for this year’s M.S. Subbulakshmi Foundation awards.

Former Chief Secretary and jury chairman C.P. Nair said on Saturday that Bhavana Radhakrishnan was chosen for the M.S. Subbulakshmi Puraskaram, M. Jayachandran for the Sangeetha Rathnakara Puraskaram, and singer Abhirami Ajay for the Yuva Sangeetha Rathnakara Puraskaram.

The awards are being given jointly by the M.S. Subbulakshmi Foundation and the Sreekrishna Natya Sangeetha Academy.

Honour for Nedumudi, Sheela

He said the foundation had also decided to honour actors Nedumudi Venu and Sheela with Chalachithra Prathibha Puraskaram for their lifetime contributions to cinema, Asianet news editor M.G. Radhakrishnan with Madhyama Prathibha Puraskaram, Janaseva Sishu Bhavan secretary Jose Maveli with Manava Seva Puraskaram, playwright Francis T. Mavelikkara with O. Madhavan Puraskaram, and A. Ajith Kumar, IAS, with the R. Prakasham Endowment Award.

The awards would be presented to the winners at a function to be held at Varkala on April 24, Mr. Nair said.
