Siddique, 55, Suresh, 42, and Nasser, 39, all residents of Alamcode in Attingal, were arrested by the police on Wednesday for allegedly manhandling sub-inspector Siju Nair during a routine vehicle check on Tuesday.

The Attingal police said the officer and his team were checking vehicles near Kacheri Junction in Attingal town at 7 p.m. A speeding car did not stop though the policemen tried to wave it down. The police team chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Poovampara.

The accused then abused the SI and manhandled him after pushing aside the policemen. The officer sustained minor injuries, including a bleeding nose, the police said. The three were in an inebriated state. They were taken into custody immediately but the arrest was recorded on Wednesday.
