The police have achieved a breakthrough in the ATM theft case with the arrest of a Keralite in New Delhi on Tuesday. A total of ₹14 lakh was stolen from two ATMs in Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha, allegedly by the same gang.
One person, identified as Suresh, 34, of Chengannur was nabbed by a police team from Alappuzha.
While ₹3.69 lakh was stolen from a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Cheriyanad in Alappuzha, ₹10.18 lakh was stolen from another near Karyavattom recently.

Haryana natives
A 10-member team constituted for the probe is jointly led by the Circle Inspectors of Kayamkulam and Mararikulam and is on the lookout for four natives of Haryana. The same gang is also suspected to have stolen around ₹20 lakh from an ATM in Rajkot, Gujarat, official sources said.
The City police are expected to seek custody of the accused.
