Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday launched two ambulances in the city to help render speedy assistance to accident victims. Mr. Chennithala flagged off the ambulances at a function held at the City Police Commissioner’s office.

The ambulances, one from the existing fleet of the city police and another that has been newly procured, would be a supplement to the ‘108’ ambulance service.

However, the newly inducted service would be confined to the city limits, said a police officer.

The ambulance is equipped with first-aid kits, stretchers, oxygen cylinders and all other necessary equipment to administer first aid.

Besides, the driver and constables accompanying the ambulance are trained to function as quick response staff.

The public can dial 100 to avail themselves of the police ambulance services whenever required, the officer said.
