The organisers of the travelling exhibition organised as part of the golden jubilee programmes of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan were spoilt for choice in terms of the material to fill the multiple panels arranged at the Kanakakunnu Palace here.
From maps showing the location of the 13 schools situated in the remotest regions of the country such as Leh and parts of Arunachal Pradesh, to a board that listed the many academic milestones the Sangathan has crossed, the exhibition has summarised the history of the 50-year-old group.
Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor who inaugurated the exhibition described it as, “very professionally mounted and attractively done.”

From Delhi
The exhibition was first held in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presided over the nationwide inauguration of the golden jubilee celebrations in February this year.
Dr. Tharoor said that being one of the senior leaders associated with the HRD ministry, he was at the receiving end of a barrage of requests from his fellow Ministers insisting on the setting up of more KVs in different parts of the country.

“Every MP is being responsive to what the public wants and the KV system still has the support and admiration of the people. This is a great tribute to the effectiveness of the system,” said Dr. Tharoor.
Aid promised
He questioned why quality should be the preserve of a few expensive schools and appreciated the KV system for having consistently upheld the vision of providing quality education at affordable fees. He was all praise for the KV schools in his constituency and promised to ensure that financial assistance was made available for the KV SAP Camp, Peroorkada, for infrastructural development.

Commissioner of the KV Sangathan Avinash Dikshit said that the institution needed to reinvent and reorient its approaches while sticking to its beliefs in providing holistic education. E-classrooms would soon become the norm in all schools under the Sangathan, said Deputy Commissioner of Ernakulam Region Ranvir Singh.
Alumni
The exhibition shows the illustrious alumni of the KV group, which includes top bureaucrats, members of the film fraternity, social scientists and sports personalities.
The range of extra-curricular events conducted annually was also detailed along with programmes such as the Youth Parliament, National Child Science Congress, yoga education, mathematics Olympiad and teacher empowerment training sessions.
The exhibition will be open for public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. till October 10.
