Tense moments as aircraft seeks emergency landing

August 18, 2016 03:42 am | Updated 03:42 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The domestic terminal of the airport here witnessed tense moments on Wednesday when the pilot of an IndiGo flight, carrying over 160 passengers, from Mumbai made a request for emergency landing owing to a suspected technical snag. However, the request was soon withdrawn, paving the way for a normal landing.

The pilot of Flight 933 of the airlines had alerted the Air Traffic Control after suspecting a fault in the front tyre system of the Airbus A320 aircraft.

“It was initially felt that a suspected glitch would render a normal landing impossible. However, the circumstances for an emergency landing did not arise as the tyres functioned perfectly fine. There was no cause for any apprehension with top priority being ensured for the safety of the passengers on board,” an official of the airlines said.
