Stops sought for more trains at Kazhakuttam

Hundreds of techies use trains daily to reach Technopark

Hundreds of techies daily commuting in mail and express trains from various parts of the State to Technopark here has stepped up their four-year-old campaign demanding stoppage for more trains at the Kazhakuttam railway station.

The campaigns and signature drives over the years have received a boost now with the socio-cultural organisation of the employees of Technopark, Pratidhwani, launching a hashtag campaign at Kazhakuttam for posting opinions or posts related to the issue.

Hundreds of employees from Technopark are actively part of the campaign that will last for a month.

“Stops for some more trains will definitely help thousands of techies,” Pratidhwani secretary Rajeev Krishnan said.

The techies have also roped in the local legislator and Minister for Electricity and Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran to drum up support for their demand. Divisional Railway Manager Prakash Butani has also been approached by the techies with a list of mail and express trains that need stoppage at the Kazhakuttam railway station.

The employees have requested stops for trains 16382/16381 Kanyakumari-Mumbai Cape Mumbai Express, 16315/16316 Kochuveli-Bengaluru Express, 16341/16342 Thiruvananthapuram-Guruvayur Intercity Express, 12624/12623 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai-Chennai Mail, 12696/12695 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai-Chennai Express, 12258/12257 Kochuveli-Yeshwanthpur Express, 16604/16603 Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Maveli Express, 16302/16301 Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur Venad Express and 12076/12075 Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express.

The techies have also requested renaming of the Kazhakuttam station ‘Technopark-Kazhakuttam’. Technopark hosts over 300 IT and ITES companies employing over 50,000 IT professionals from different parts of the country.
