Rs.50 crore for permanent venue for IFFK

A permanent venue for the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) has been a long-standing demand of the organisers of the annual event as well as film enthusiasts.

The allocation of Rs. 50 crore that was made in the Revised Budget for the purpose has gone a long way into realizing their dream.

The district will also benefit from the announcement made to establish cultural complexes in each district.

The proposed one in the district will be named after Ayyankali, an icon of the Kerala renaissance movement. Each complex, which is estimated to cost Rs. 40 crore, has been proposed to house a drama theatre, cinema hall, gallery, bookstalls, hall for seminars and discussions, workshop facility for artists and artisans, and space for accommodation.
