Pinarayi gets first-hand feel of Technopark

: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited Technopark on Tuesday morning to get first-hand knowledge of the facilities there and development plans.

The Chief Minister drove to Technopark without the usual entourage of officials and security, and spent nearly two hours interacting with key officials and touring various buildings and facilities there.

Accompanied by IT secretary M. Sivasankar, who is also his private secretary, Mr. Vijayan reached Technopark at 11 a.m. and used the opportunity to do a SWOT analysis of the State Information Technology (IT) sector and the prospects of further growth of Technopark. Technopark Chief Executive Officer Hrishikesh R. Nair and other officials presented an overview, current status and future plans of Technopark across five phases.

Development plans

Mr. Vijayan enquired about the current demand from IT companies and the effective utilisation of the available space and the development plans that can cater to the immediate requirements.

The CEO briefed him about ongoing development in Phase III, especially by private IT companies to whom land had been allotted and the potential employment opportunities.

Government support

The Chief Minister promised the government’s full support for Technopark’s development and said the next focus of the LDF government would be on the development of Technocity coming up at Pallipuram where 424 acres had been allotted to IT initiatives (TCS 97 acres, IIITM 10 acres, SunTech 10 acres (SEZ), Infosys 49.84 acres (SEZ) and KASE - 5 acres.)

The Chief Minister visited the buildings constructed under Phase I and II. He had a bird’s eye view of the world’s greenest Technopolis spread across 760 acres of land from the top of Tejeswani building.
