North sub-district takes home the coveted prize

Bags top spot in HSS, HS sections in district school arts fete; South comes second

The overall Champions Thiruvananthapuram North Sub District members with Chief Guest A Sampath MP, Actor Sudheer Karamana and Mayor V K Prasanth at the valedictory of the Thiruvananthapuram District Schools Arts Festival in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.

The Thiruvananthapuram North sub-district, with 815 points, lifted the newly instituted overall trophy as curtain came down on the District School Arts Festival at Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, here on Saturday.

The North sub-district bagged the top spot in the HSS General category with 375 points and in HS General with 315 points. In UP General, it came third with 125 points.

The Thiruvananthapuram South sub-district was second in the overall rankings with 782 points. With 375 points, it shared the top honours with the North sub-district in the HSS category.

In the UP General category, Kilimanoor came first with 130 points and Attingal with 127 points. Kilimanoor put up a good show in the HS General category too, coming second with 292 points. Attingal was second in HSS General with 331 points.

In the UP Sanskrit fete, Palode secured the first position with 88 points, followed by Thiruvananthapuram South with 83.

In the HS Sanskrit fete, Kattakada was at the top with 91 points, followed by Palode with 79.

In the UP Arabic fete, Palode and Thiruvananthapuram North shared the first position with 65 points. South subdistrict followed with 63 points.

In HS Arabic fete, Kaniyapuram had the edge over South sub-district, bagging 84 points.

In the UP general category, New HSS, Nellimmoodu, was declared the best school, and in HS it was Darshana HSS, Nedumangad. In the HSS category, it was Carmel English Medium HSS that took the first place.

A. Sampath, MP, inaugurated the valedictory function. V.S. Sivakumar, MLA, presided over the function. Mayor V.K. Prasanth, who is chairman of the organising committee, Deputy Mayor Rakhi Ravikumar, poet Murugan Kattakada, actor Sudhir Karamana, and DDE M.K. Shinemon were present. Prizes were given to the winners of various competitions and in various categories on the occasion.
