Former KPCC president K. Muraleedharan, MLA, has criticised the State government decision to hand over the implementation of monorail projects to the Public Works Department (PWD).

Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, Mr. Muraleedharan said that a move to establish a corporation under the Public Works Department for implementing the monorail projects was pre-meditated one because the Kozhikode Monorail project would get priority over that of the Thiruvananthapuram project.

He said he was doubtful whether the Thiruvananthapuram project would get off the drawing board. He said he was planning to hold an indefinite fast in front of the Secretariat if the Chief Minister failed to give an assurance on the Thiruvananthapuram monorail project. He said that several development projects of the State Capital were getting derailed for one reason or the other. “Thiruvananthapuram district has contributed the maximum number of MLAs for this government. While Kochi has been given SmartCity and Kozhikode has got monorail, Thiruvananthapuram has got only dengue and cholera,” he said sarcastically.
