The City Police have decided to deploy more traffic policemen in East Fort to regulate parking of government and private buses at the main bus stand there.
Shortly after conducting an inspection at the bus stand on Tuesday, City Police Commissioner H. Venkatesh told The Hindu that additional force would be stationed at the bus stand to ensure that government and private buses follow rules while being parked at the bus stand.
A minimum of two to three minutes are allotted for the buses to board passengers from the stand. The police would not hesitate to impose fine on private bus drivers who were found not maintaining time discipline on a regular basis, he added.

Mr. Venkatesh said he had given instructions to the Transport Department to ensure that KSRTC bus drivers leave the premises within the allotted time. As a long-term measure, he suggested providing another bay on the backside of the bus stand.
Officials from the Transport Department said the department was considering the proposal to provide additional parking area.

The department has around 20 cents of land on the backside of the bus stand and it could be easily converted into a bay.
