Govt. stand prolonged law academy stir, says Kanam

February 16, 2017 12:22 am | Updated 09:37 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran with the Kerala Law Academy Law College students who led the agitation against the college management at a felicitation function organised by the AIYF at Gandhi Park in Thiruvananthapuuram on Wednesday.

Lashing out at the CPI(M) and the government for their handling of the student agitation at the Kerala Law Academy Law College here, CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran has said the agitation got prolonged and more students joined it only because of the arrogance shown by the CPI(M) and the government.

Addressing a rally held in the city on Wednesday to felicitate the girl students who had led the month-long stir, the CPI leader said the BJP did not take away the entire credit for the victory of the agitation only because of the presence of the AISF in the stir. BJP leader V. Muraleedharan and Congress leader K. Muraleedharan launched their fasts only because of the government’s indifferent attitude towards the strike.

Without naming the SFI, he said some organisations that had entered the stir late and left it early were now asking what those who persisted with the stir had gained. They were now making fun of the CPI and the AISF.

There was no justification for taking the stand that ‘we are right and you are wrong’.

“If you turn away from popular agitations, you will move away from the people. That is what they should understand,” Mr. Rajendran said, and wondered why there should be political divergence on united struggles.
