Ganja sale: two arrested, car seized

The city police have arrested two persons in connection with the sale of ganja and confiscated a luxury car used to transport the contraband.

The Narcotic cell of the police arrested Madhupal, a resident of Hills Road, Observatory, and Christy, a resident of Nehru Junction, Vettukad. As much as 2 kg of the contraband was seized from their custody.

City Police Commissioner G. Sparjan Kumar said in a statement that the arrest was made following a tip-off. The duo was caught while trying to sell ganja to clients near the All India Radio at Vazhuthacaud. They used to deliver ganja to clients upon demand over phone.

Parents warned

The accused used the luxury car to procure the substance from neighbouring countries and sell it in packets for Rs.500, Rs.1,000 and Rs.3,000. The phone details of the accused revealed that their clients were children of well-to-do families in the city. The children’s parents have been informed, the statement said.
