Terms report on garbage plant eyewash

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday observed that the State Pollution Control Board (PCB) had not been able to suggest any ways and means of rectifying the deficiencies in the functioning of the Vilappilsala solid waste-treatment plant.

The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice K. Vinod Chandran, described as eyewash the report submitted by the board after inspecting the plant.

The court made the observation when the report came up for hearing.

The court had directed the experts of the PCB to inspect the plant to assess its condition, including the feasibility of having such a unit.

‘Follow-up not proper’

The court said the board had not properly followed the directive.
