The KRTL came into the picture following the exit of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) from the Light Metro proposed on 35.12 km in the two cities. This was in the wake of the reluctance of the government to sign turnkey consultancy agreement for the preparatory works.
The drawings for the three flyovers were prepared under DMRC Principal Adviser E. Sreedharan and the government has asked the KRTL to stick to the alignment and approved drawings of the DMRC.
The Social Impact Assessment (SIA) carried out by the Centre for Advanced Research in Health and Human Behaviour (CARB) has recommended acquiring 1.343 hectares for the 480-m flyover at Sreekaryam.
The expert committee report on the SIA for the 443-m flyover at Ulloor carried out by Institution for Rural Development (IRD) is with the District Collector.
