Noted filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan released a book ‘50 frames' at a function organised at the 16 International Film Festival of Kerala in the city on Thursday. The book, released by Graduates of FTII (GRAFTII), Kerala, is a celebration of the 50 year of establishment of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.
At the function, Mr. Gopalakrishnan said the institute provided excellent training in the streams of film and television production. “ Many students of this institute were from Kerala. I was one of them,” he said.
The book is a collection of articles and interviews, in English and Malayalam, of FTII graduates from Kerala, who have tasted success in the Malayalam film industry. The articles are about their life at FTII and how the institution has helped them shape their careers.

The book also unveils the tentative beginnings of many of these graduates in the south Indian film industry. The book, edited by Leenus L.K. and designed by Razi Muhammed, has archival pictures from FTII.
FTII is a premier national institution started in 1961 by the government. GRAFTII, Kerala, is the regional platform of the international organisation GRAFTII, the alumni organisation of students of FTII. The association, affiliated to the Film Federation of India, brings together all directors, writers, editors, cinematographers, sound recordists, designers, actors , art directors and other professionals in the film- and television-related industry in India.
