Woman admits to kidnap drama

Police are fuming after the much-reported kidnap of a woman nearly a week ago unravelled itself as concocted story.

Noushia (19), a tailor, at Madavu in Puttur, said in her complaint that she was kidnapped by three men in a sports utility vehicle on Wednesday night. She had said that she escaped by jumping off the SUV when it slowed at Aramboor in Sullia taluk. However, on Monday, when she was called to the station to sort out a few missing links in her complaint, she confessed to making up the incident. After a tiff with her husband, Abdul Khadar, she took a bus to Sullia and then on her return complained of kidnap.
