Tulu film ‘Pattanaje’ to hit the screens on Friday

A Tulu feature film, “Pattanaje”, would be released in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts on September 1. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty, director of the film, said that the 10th day in the Tulu month of Bhesha was called “Pattanaje”. It was on this day that sowing of seeds is taken up in the fields. It was a belief among the Tuluvas that a few rain drops will fall on that day.

In the film, the heroine is born on “Pattanaje” day. The story revolves around the sudden developments in her life. It also focuses on discrimination, atrocities and social issues. It shows how the heroine deals with them with the help of the rich cultural background of the region.

Shivadhwaj, Surya Rao, Prateek Shetty and Reshma Shetty are playing the main characters in the film. Chethan Rai, Mani, Sundar Rai, Mandar, Praveen Markame and Sita Kote are among others who are in the film.

There are six songs, of which four have been rendered in the Yakshagana style. Sunita Shetty, Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Navneet Shetty Kadri and Dinakar Pachanadi have written the lyrics. V. Manohar has composed the music.

The choreography is by Madan Harini; cinematography by Suresh Babu, and dialogues by Vijaykumar Kodiyalbail. He (Mr. Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty) had written the story and screenplay of the film. The film had been shot in different places in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
