Tender coconut seller commits suicide

October 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - MANGALURU:

Vaman Poojary (55), a tender coconut seller, was found dead in his outhouse near Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri on Thursday.

The Moodbidri police said Poojary was found hanging from the roof of the outhouse. The police said Poojary’s stall was close to the place where 40-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary, who was murdered on October 9, sold flowers.

The police said they are yet to find reasons that forced Poojary to commit suicide.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel told reporters here on Friday that Vaman Poojary had received threat calls on his mobile phone after the murder of the Bajrang Dal activist, who operated near his shop.

This might have forced him to commit suicide, Mr. Kateel said.
