Teachers to protest tomorrow

July 04, 2019 12:47 am | Updated 12:47 am IST - UDUPI

Ravi S. Poojary, president of Karnataka State Government Primary Schools Graduate Teachers’ Association, said on Wednesday that the recent Cadre and Recruitment (C&R) Rule discriminated against them. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Poojary said that earlier primary school graduate teachers were teaching from classes 1 to 8. But as per the recent Cadre and Recruitment Rules, they could teach only from classes 1 to 5. This was demotion to them and affected their service seniority.

The association demanded that the C&R rules of existing primary school graduate teachers should be merged with the C&R rules of teachers appointed for classes 6 to 8.

To draw the attention of the State government on this matter, the association will take out a procession from Syndicate Circle to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here and stage a protest on July 5, he said.
