Leaders submit memorandum

A delegation of Sangh Parivar leaders met the Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati and Superintendent of Police Nisha James over the issue of theft of cows in Udupi district, here on Saturday.

In a memorandum submitted to the officers, the delegation said that the incidents of thefts of cows had become widespread in the district.

But the State government had turned a blind eye to these incidents, they said.

Instead of arresting cattle thieves, the government was foisting false cases on those protecting the cows. It was trying to suppress the activists of Hindutva organisations, the memorandum said.

Kota Srinivas Poojary, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Shobha Karandlaje, MP, K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of district unit of BJP, and leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, were present in the delegation.
