Sexual assault case registered after 15-year-old gives birth in Bantwal

A 30-year-old man from a village near Bantwal has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl from the same village, who delivered a child in a government hospital. According to Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D., family members of the girl filed a complaint after she gave birth to the child in a government hospital on Tuesday morning.

Mr. Sharanappa said the police have registered a case of sexual assault under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code and also under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He said they are questioning the accused person.

A 21-year-old Sri Lankan national, who was reported missing from her college in Moodbidri on July 24, has been traced at the Chennai International Airport on Tuesday.

According to Moodbidri police, a complaint was filed on July 24 about Nimna Tarushi Sebastian, a hotel management student of a college in Moodbidri, leaving the college’s hostel without informing anybody. This information was circulated to different police stations and also to airports. On Tuesday morning, the Chennai International Airport authorities called the Moodbidri police about the girl.

A team of policemen from Moodbidri are on the way to Airport to secure the girl. She is expected to return on Wednesday.

Boy hit by bus

A 13-year-old boy sustained grievous injury after the bicycle he was hit by a city bus on the Bejai Kapikad Road on Tuesday morning.

The Mangaluru Traffic West police said Amogh Shetty, a class seven student from Hathill, was cycling towards the KSRTC bus stand. Amogh Shetty was on his way to tuition.

The police said the boy was hit by the bus that was going in the same direction.

The boy was admitted to a private hospital near Kuntikana junction with multiple fractures to his legs. The police have arrested the driver of the city bus.

Teams formed

The Belthangady police have formed two teams to trace Gopala Gowda, who has been accused of assaulting Sundara Malekudiya (40), a farm labourer from Neriya village. Gopala Gowda has been accused of attacking Sundara Malekudiya with a weed clearing machine on Sunday. Government Wenlock Hospital’s doctors performed surgery to fix Sundara Malekudiya’s left arm that was almost severed. Sundara Malekudiya has lost four fingers of the right hand.

Belthangady police have arrested Gopala Gowda’s wife Pushpalata.

The police arrested a man on the charge of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Kundapur taluk on Tuesday.
