Second round of Pulse Polio drive from April 15

The second round of the National Pulse Polio programme will be held in Gulbarga district from April 15 to 18, covering all children aged below five.

Deputy Commissioner R. Vishal, who presided over a preparatory meeting with senior officials of the line departments involved in the immunisation programme here on Saturday, said that according to the latest census report, there were just over 3.86 lakh children under five years in the district and all of them would be covered under the Pulse Polio drive.

100 per cent

Stressing the need for achieving 100 per cent immmunisation of the targeted age group, Dr. Vishal said that on the first day, the polio drops would be administered in special booths established throughout the district.

On the next three days, the designated team would reach out to all the individual houses and administer the polio drops to the remaining children., the Deputy Commissioner said

Special teams have been constituted in the district for house-to-house administration of the vaccine, and supervisory staff have been appointed to monitor the progress of the drive.

Mobile teams have also been formed to visit the village fairs and temple festivals throughout the district, as well as railway stations and bus-stands, to administer the polio drops to the children who missed the opportunity to get vaccinated.
