Rationalists, experts rubbish mid-brain activation theory

The concept of making geniuses out of small children with the use of mid-brain technique has been rubbished by experts.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, President of Federation of Indian Rationalist Association Narendra Nayak said parents are paying hefty amounts believing such farce claims of organisations in Bengaluru and Mangaluru that were far-fetched.

Debunking the possibility of ‘creating intelligence’, many neurologist joined Mr. Nayak’s cause.

K.S. Madhava Rao, a neuro-psychiatrist, said mid-brain was present in all mammals and has nothing to with intelligence. Intelligence was related to the cerebral part of the brain which is much developed than animals.

Srinivas Bhat, Neurologist from K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, said that the mid-brain cannot be activated to make children read blindfolded. Each child has his own level of intelligence and people should not fall for false claims of organisations. “We will give you the IQ level of the child and let parents admit their children with a pre-condition asking for organisation to state the level they will increase after the training. They will not agree,” Dr. Bhat said.

Challenging the organisations involved with the mid-brain activation, Mr. Nayak has said he would pay Rs. 5 lakh to the organisation that demonstrates a child’s ability to read after being blindfolded.
