Ramakrishna Mission, Thimmakka lauded for environment work

Saalumarada Thimmakka and Swami Jithakamananda of the Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, being felicitated in Mangaluru.

Environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka and the Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission were conferred the Rotary Annual State Award, Vandana Award, recently.

Jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotract Club of Mangalore City, the award was presented to them in recognition of their exemplary achievements and for their invaluable contribution to environment protection.

Rotary District Assistant Governor Kiran Prasad Rai presented the awards to Ms. Thimmakka and Swami Jithakamananda, secretary of Ramakrishna Mission. He also released the club’s weekly bulletin ‘Centor’. Award selection committee chairman Devdas Rai said the award is a part of club’s vocational service project. He said Ms. Thimmakka and the mission have been doing yeoman service to society in the field of environment protection.
