Rachana, a forum of the Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is contemplating nurturing over 100 youngsters for entrepreneurship. The move comes after Rachana successfully hosted Magnet 2014, a world convention of Mangalorean businessmen and entrepreneurs in April this year.

The forum has formed Rachana Entrepreneur Development Cell towards achieving its goal, said Rachana president John Monteiro. He was speaking at an event to hand over Magnet 2014 projects at Bishops’ House here on Thursday.

MLC and former president of Rachana Ivan D’Souza urged successful entrepreneurs in the community to support the youngsters. The successful persons should train others in their respective fields. While many Catholics ventured into business earlier, the present generation is keen on moving abroad, he regretted.

Albert D’Souza, an educationist from Mumbai, urged Rachana to adopt innovative methodologies to train the youth. Students from professional courses should be trained with new strategies, innovation and inner inspiration, he said. Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza congratulated Rachana for taking up the project and asked the forum to reach out to people.

Magnet 2014 committee members handed over Rs. 12.5 lakh, the surplus generated from the event, to Rachana on the occasion. The amount will be utilised to support Magnet Venture Fund and Rachana Cooperative Society to boost entrepreneurship. Magnet 2014 president Walter D’Souza and others were present.
