BJP MLA K. Raghupati Bhat said on Tuesday that post-mortem report will reveal the truth behind the death of the youth, Shreyas (19), in the Madisalu rivulet in Hosuru village on November 5.
Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Bhat said that the case was still under investigation. Shreyas died while he had gone with his acquaintances to catch fish in the rivulet. The complaint was that blast fishing method was used to catch fish. (In the blast fishing method, an explosive is used to catch fish). The preliminary report did not state that the youth died in an explosion.
The truth would come out in the post-mortem report, which was expected soon. If the post-mortem report stated that the youth had died in an explosion, suitable action would be taken by the police. “We are not interfering in the investigation,” he said.

On the Congress leader and former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj’s charge that BJP workers were involved in the death of the youth, Mr. Bhat said that there were maximum BJP workers in the Udupi Assembly Constituency. There were no workers in the Congress. Hence, they are saying that BJP workers are involved. “If the post-mortem report states that the youth had died in an explosion, we will seek action against the accused irrespective of the fact that they belonged to the BJP,” Mr. Bhat said.
