Caller also threatens Ministers Ramanath Rai and Khader

The Udupi district police have decided to ask local television channel Spandana to produce the audio clippings of the reported call made by underworld operative Ravi Poojary, for verification process.

The TV channel had received a call on Friday from a person claiming to be Ravi Poojary, who confirmed that he had made the recent threat call to Minister of State for Fisheries Abhayachandra Jain over the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist in Dakshina Kannada district.

As per the audio clipping telecast by the TV channel, the caller also warned two other Ministers from Dakshina Kannada district – B. Ramanath Rai and U.T. Khader – of consequences if they had any role in the murder. “We will ask the TV channel to produce the audio clippings on Saturday to verify it and then take action as per law,” Superintendent of Police of Udupi K. Annamalai said. He said the voice samples of the underworld operative could be matched from the audio clippings obtained from the TV channel.
