Three persons were arrested for alleged illegal possession of 16.55 g of MDMA. The police gave the names of the accused as Aboobacker Misba, 24, Shihab Abdul Razak, 27, both from Ullal and Shabbir Ahmed, 27, from Someshwar.
According to a press release, members of special crime investigation team, headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Shrinivas R. Gowda, were tipped-off about accused persons allegedly attempting to sell MDMA procured from Mumbai to students and others on city beaches. The team caught the three persons on the Baikampady-Korikatta road.
Apart from MDMA, the police seized the scooter used by the accused and four mobile phones, the police said.

Woman dies of injuries
A 22-year-old woman on Friday died of injuries that were allegedly inflicted by her husband at Kallapadavu village in Puttur Rural Police station limits on Thursday night.
The police have identified the deceased as Akshata, 22. The police said that Akshata was allegedly stabbed by her husband Ganesh, 30, as the latter was not happy with the food she had prepared.

Akshata ran to her mother’s house, adjoining her house, and her husband followed her. When Ganesh reportedly attempted to attack his wife again, his mother-in-law, Kamala, and a few others prevented him and made him leave the place. Akshata was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died early on Friday.
The police are on the lookout for Ganesh.
