Personnel involved in towing vehicles, parked at ‘no parking’ areas and blocking vehicular movement, have been sensitised about the operations, said Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil here on Friday.
Following a complaint during the weekly phone-in programme about personnel sitting on two-wheelers after they are lifted into the vehicle, Mr. Patil said that recently a meeting of the towing personnel was convened at his office.
They were asked to make prior announcement of the vehicles they intend to tow. If the vehicle owners are nearby, a spot fine has to be collected, and the vehicle be released.

Mr. Patil said the personnel was also asked to carefully tow vehicles without causing any damage to them.
There were several calls on Friday about the parking of vehicles on both sides of roads.
A resident of Kadri pointed that parking on the both sides of the road between Kadri Mallikatta Junction and Kadri Maidan was hindering movement of vehicles . “Barricades had prevented it for last few days. But the problem has resurfaced after they have been removed,” she said.

A resident of Car Street sought action to prevent parking of vehicles on both sides of the road near BEM School. A caller from Bejai said no action was being taken to remove vehicles blocking the free left at the PVS Junction for motorists coming from M.G. Road.
Other callers pointed to autorickshaws and other schools vehicles continuing to overload students. “We are taking action and this will continue,” Mr. Patil reassured.
On a complaint of nuisance from persons visiting the bar opposite the KSRTC bus stand that opens early in the day, Mr. Patil directed the jurisdictional police inspector to take necessary action.
