People should be protectors of peace: Deputy Commissioner

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated in Mangaluru

Ex-servicemen and others paying tributes at the War Memorial at Kadri on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas in Mangaluru on Friday.

While affirming the commitment of the district administration in maintaining peace in Dakshina Kannada, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S. on Friday asked people to be protectors of peace and tranquility.

Speaking at the Kargil Vijay Diwas programme organised by the Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti at the War Memorial here, Mr. Senthil said India is regarded across the globe as a messenger of peace.

It is needed for all of us to act with humanity. By becoming protectors of peace, people of the region should prevent forces that attempt to disturb peace.

Chairman of Sharada Group of Institutions M.B. Puranik asked people to allow their wards to join the National Cadet Corps and the Armed Forces.

Mr. Senthil, Mr. Puranik and several members of Samiti offered floral tributes to soldiers.

Members of the Dakshina Kannada District Ex-Servicemen’s Association and Lions Club International District 317 D paid floral tributes and observed candle light vigil at the war memorial, Kadri Hills on Friday evening in memory of soldiers who laid down their lives in Kargil war. Association and Centre for Integrated Learning jointly organised seminar for school students at Lions Seva Mandir in Mallikatte. A few ex-servicemen were honoured.
