The Jana Nudi, the conclave of writers and thinkers parallel to the ones organised by educationists and religious heads in the district, is set to begin in Mangaluru from December 13.
The two-day meeting with the theme ‘Nudiyu Siriyalla, Baduku’, would be inaugurated by Veerabhadra Channamalla Swami of Nidumamidi Mahasamsthana Math in the presence of writers K. Neela, Sara Abubakar and Mavalli Shankar and would be presided by Mallika Ghanti, said writer Athradi Amrutaa Shetty.
Organised under the banner Abhimatha, the event would witness participation by writers and thinkers from across the State, Ms. Shetty told presspersons here on Thursday.

Jana Nudi was not just a parallel conclave, but a movement to build society through proactive involvement of writers and thinkers at a time when communalists, education entrepreneurs, Mathadhipathis and Dharmadhikaris were holding literary fests and all-religion conferences to get a moral tag for their activities, Abhimatha said in a release.
Literary fests were being organised with the unholy nexus of communalism, religious fundamentalism and capitalism.
Writers were confined to glass chambers in such conclaves and used as paperweights to get public acceptance. Hence the Jana Nudi was being organised through funds raised by writers themselves to reveal the truth, the release said.

The conclave would feature sessions on ‘Literature in direct conflict with corporate culture’, ‘New face of caste system’, ‘Challenges of social networking websites’, ‘Upheavals of the coast (Karavaliya Tallanagalu)’ and ‘Contemporary challenges – the need for unity’.
Cultural programmesDay one of the event would also have a cultural evening where Taledanda penned by Girish Karnad would be staged. The valedictory on December 14 evening would be attended by G. Ramakrishna, R.K. Hudugi and Meenakshi Bali.
The conclave would be held at Shanthi Kirana, Nanthur.
