The Food and Civil Supplies Department on Thursday urged LPG consumers to enrol for the scheme for direct subsidy transfer immediately to continue to avail subsidy on LPG refills.

The Department’s Assistant Director Chinnappa Gowda D., speaking at an LPG consumer meet organised by Bharat Petroleum at Mannagudda here, said people should enable the Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG (DBTL) as soon as possible to get refills and subsidy seamlessly, instead of waiting till the last date of March 31.

He cautioned that as per the rules, those who failed to register for the scheme by providing their Aadhaar Card or Bank Account details to the distributor of their LPG gas and the banks, would not be able to get subsidy for refills after March 31. The department would not be able to help consumers who rush to them later.

Market value

He pointed out that consumers will get a subsidy advance of Rs. 568 soon after registration and the subsidy amount would be credited directly in their bank accounts after every refill delivery. The consumers will have to pay full market value to the delivery person as mentioned in the cash memo.

Earlier Bharath Petroleum officials asked consumers to ensure that their connection was in the name of a family member. Otherwise they would not be able to get the insurance amount if any accident occurs.
