Online solution to sexual harassment at workplace

At a time when attacks on women are on the rise, a city-based IT company has come out with a comprehensive online solution to educate employees about anti-sexual harassment (ASH) policies and procedures.

Making a presentation at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Wednesday, Vineet Bhat from i-POINT, said the product, i-COMPLY ASH has been built using interactive technology and innovative design.

The presentation was a part of KCCI’s efforts to bring technology and business closer.

Focus

Mr. Bhat said the product focuses on the context, such as, importance of anti-sexual harassment awareness, guidelines, policies; understanding — sexual harassment, employer’s responsibilities, consequences of harassment and retaliation. It also highlights contextual case study based examples, redressal mechanism such as organisational policy and how to handle complaints and prevention. The product would be of much help to small and medium enterprises.

The product has been ratified by best legal firms to be compliant with the ‘Vishaka Judgment’ and the Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2013, Mr. Bhat said. It would help the enterprise to fulfil statutory obligations and to achieve compliance as per law, he added.

Mr. Bhat said his company has also created a pool of NGOs who can be empanelled as panellists for the Internal Complaints Committee of Enterprises. There were two other presentations by Mangalore-based IT firms.

KCCI vice president Nigam B. Vasani, secretary Rammohan Pai, IT sub-committee chairman Praven Kumar Kalbavi and others were present.
